What are Public Records?
Public records are those materials prepared, owned, maintained or retained by state and
local government agencies that must be made available to the public (unless excluded by any of the exemptions in the Kentucky Open Records Act). Public agencies are not required to conduct research, compile
information or answer questions as part of an open records request, but only to provide existing records that have been specifically requested.
